Poovanesh Saravanan serves as the President of the McLean County Tamil Sangam (MCTS). A longtime resident of Bloomington for over 15 years, he brings a wealth of leadership experience, having previously served as President of the Bloomington Tamil Sangam during the 2014–2015 term. Poovanesh is deeply committed to the principle of giving back to the community and places high value on respecting and valuing every individual. He enjoys connecting with fellow community members who are eager to contribute positively and is looking forward to collaborating with others to make a lasting, meaningful impact together.
Janani Pugazharasu serves as the Vice President of the McLean County Tamil Sangam (MCTS). A resident of Bloomington-Normal since 2016, she works professionally as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Stevenson Elementary School. Janani is driven by a love for making new connections and finding meaningful ways to give back to her local neighborhood. She thrives at the intersection of people and purpose, remaining passionate about building social bridges and contributing to local initiatives that make a tangible impact on the community.
Narendranath Krishnamurthy serves as the Secretary for the McLean County Tamil Sangam. Known affectionately as Naren, he has been an active and dedicated volunteer with the Sangam, consistently contributing his time and efforts to bring the community together. He steps into this leadership role with a deep sense of respect and responsibility. Naren is committed to serving and giving back, focusing his energy on strengthening the vibrant community that we all cherish.
Shanmuga Raj Somasundaram serves as the Joint Secretary for the McLean County Tamil Sangam. A resident of the Bloomington–Normal area for the past 10 years, he has been an active participant in numerous community activities. Shanmuga Raj is deeply passionate about strengthening cultural connections and is dedicated to fostering inclusive community programs that celebrate diversity. He looks forward to deeper involvement in initiatives that bring families together through a variety of engaging activities.
Karthik Kalairajan serves as the Treasurer for the McLean County Tamil Sangam. Originally from Devakottai, he was born and raised in Chennai. Professionally, Karthik is a Software Developer who relocated to the US in 2021. He is a family man, living with his wife and two children, and is excited to apply his dedication and work alongside the committee for the betterment of the community.
